He was born on 14 January 1963, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. In 1989, his film sex, lies and videotape won the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was a critical success. It inspired young filmmakers and became the independent film boom of the 1990s. After directed many low budget films, he directed mainstream film in 1998. He came out with the film Out of Sight (1998). He was nominated twice for an Academy Award as best director in 2001 with the film Traffic (2000) and Erin Brockovich (2000). The film Traffic (2000) eventually own an Oscar. It was the great opportunity for him to direct big budget film like Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007). Later he experimented with new techniques with many film such as Full Frontal (2002), Solaris (2002), Che Guevaray (2008).
