Walter Moreira Salles Jr.

He was born on 12 April 1956, Rio de Janeiro. He is a Brazilian filmmaker and producer. He is a son of a Brazilian banker and ambassador Walter Moreira Salles. His family own the Unibanco bank, one of the richest bank in south America.
He went to the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. His first film was Terra Estrangeira (1995). It has a small box-office hit and appreciated form many critics. He made another film called Central do Brasil (1998). It was nominated two Academy Awards for a Leading Role and Best Foreign Language Film.
He was voted to be one of the 40 Best Directors in the World by The Guardian in 2003
He made is first English language Hollywood film Dark Water (2002). It was an adaptation of a Japanese film of the same name. His most internationally famous film is Diarios de Motocicleta (2004). It was a box-office hit in South America and Europe.
He recently working on three project which will be released soon.
