François Truffaut

He was born on 6 February 1932, Paris, France. He started to seriously watch movies at the age of seven. When he was fifteen, he joined a film club and met  André Bazin, a French critic and became friends. Truffaut wrote his first movie critiques Les Cahiers du Cinema with his friend in 1953. He later directed some short film and worked as an assistant director for Roberto Rossellini.

He married Madeleine Morgenstern, the daughter of a powerful film distributor in 1957. He founded his own production company called Les Films du Carrosse. He directed Les mistons (1957). It was the beginning for his cinematographic work. In 1959, he launched a film Les quatre cents coups (1959). This film was the beginning of the French New Wave in France. He became the most successful French filmmaker ever. The themes found in his films are woman, childhood, passion and faithfulness.
