Don Siegel

He was born on 26 October 1912, Chicago, Illinois, USA. He graduated from Cambridge University, England. He started his film career as an editor and second unit director. He directed two short films (Hitler Lives (1945) and Star in the Night (1945). The films won the Academy Awards. His first feature was The Verdict (1946). He became famous for his ‘B’ grade movies like The Lineup (1958), Riot in Cell Block 11 (1954), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956). He also was a television producer. He directed the best Elvis Presley’s picture in the film Flaming Star (1960). He was a friend with Clint Eastwood, who often claim that Siegel is his film mentor.
