Michael Curtiz

He was born on 24 December 1886, Budapest, Austria-Hungary. He started his filmmaking career in Hungary as an actor then a director in 1912. He continued his works in Austria and Germany after the World War II. In early 1920s he went to many countries in Europe to make films. He moved to America in 1926. This was the time he started to work with Hollywood, for Warner Brother studio. He found a difficulty in working with the Hollywood studio system. He began making films in almost very genres. His works that considered the classic films are Casablanca (1942) and Mildred Pierce (1945). His filmmaking career declined when he started to make films for other studio. His last film was The Comancheros (1961). He died a year later after this film.
