Peter Weir

He was born on 21 August 1944, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He is an Australian film director. He directed all of his early films in Australia. His early films help promote the Australian films to the world. Later he went to America to make films in Hollywood. He confined both American movies techniques with the European film style. Most of his films deal with cultures and ideals. For example his film Gallipoli (1981) was about an Australian kid fights idealistically in the World War I. Same with The Year of Living Dangerously (1983), which about a love and political story set in Indonesia. His most commercially successful was Truman Show (1998), about a man who realizes that all his life is just a reality show in a television.
